Happy Trails
Opportunity Living is excited to announce our new project – Happy Trails!
Opportunity Living has a walking trail, measuring 2,054 square feet, and is open and accessible to the entire community. This trail serves individuals with disabilities, staff, families, and residents, providing a safe and welcoming environment for recreation, wellness, and connection. Community members enjoy walking on it at their convenience. It is a vital setting for client-led programming, including our horticulture initiative, as well as recreational activities such as guided golf cart rides. Adults and youth have enjoyed volunteering at the trail area for cleanup, gardening, and with events.
The trail is also a cornerstone of our Annual Back-to-School Bash, a large-scale community giveback event now celebrating its fifth year.
However, sections of the trail have deteriorated, creating safety concerns and limiting accessibility for those who rely on it most. Repairing and seal coating the trail will significantly improve safety, usability, and inclusivity for individuals with disabilities and the broader Lake City community. The project will cost $21,548.
The Opportunity Living trail is more than a recreational feature—it is essential infrastructure that enables safe, accessible, and impactful client and community experiences. Investing in its restoration ensures that it can continue to serve as a hub for wellness, inclusion, and connection for years to come.
